Ortofon Moving Magnet Cartridge 2M Black

 The 2M Black is Ortofon’s best moving magnet cartridge from a company that has been making phono cartridges longer than just about any other. The 2M Black has the same engine, body, and wiring as the 2M Bronze but with a highly polished Shibata diamond. It is very revealing of what is in the grooves, it hides nothing. It also needs to be set up very well from an azimuth standpoint to get the best performance out of it. If you want to stay with a moving magnet and extract every ounce of music you can from the grooves, the 2M Black is a wonderful choice.

Features

The 2M Black is graced with a Shibata diamond which slim, highly polished profile allows an exceedingly wide contact area to the groove walls and ensures notably detailed reproduction throughout the spectrum, including even the most high frequency groove information.

The cartridge body is manufactured from Hopelex, an environment-friendly material which ensures high rigidity while eliminating unwanted resonances.

The 2M Black uses a special upgraded engine, featuring split pole pins with a silver plated copper wire.

Ortofon has optimized the design for ease of mounting the cartridge, and the weight and size to fit the most common turntables on the market today. The 2M Series provides excellent compatibility when used in an assortment of playback systems and with a wide variety of phono preamps.
